Pamela Schatten

Attorney · AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell

Pamela Schatten has practiced wills, trusts and estates for 20 years, learning the work beside her father, A. Jeffrey Barash, a Super Lawyer with roughly forty years in the field. She prepares estate planning documents, represents guardians appointed by the court in guardianship proceedings, and administers trusts and estates. Her father has recently retired, and she now practices as a sole practitioner.

Guardianship is at the center of her work, alongside estate planning and probate. She also continues to handle family law matters for South Florida families.

She is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer review rating the publication issues, based on confidential evaluations by other lawyers and judges of legal ability and ethical standards.

Her office is close to home by design. After years of watching a practice run on ninety-minute commutes each way, she built one where the time saved goes into client files instead of traffic. Clients notice it in how quickly calls come back.

Pamela was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2006. Her father, A. Jeffrey Barash, practiced estate and tax law in Miami Beach, and the firm continues to serve Miami-Dade families alongside its Broward clients.

Much of her work today involves guardianship and incapacity. She represents families and court-appointed guardians when a parent with dementia or Alzheimer's disease can no longer manage money or medical decisions, and when a young adult with autism, Down syndrome or another developmental disability needs a guardian advocate. She looks first at whether an existing power of attorney or health care surrogate already covers the situation, because the right documents can make a court case unnecessary.

Her real estate work grows out of the same families. When a parent moves into assisted living, the house often has to be sold or retitled, and an estate can't close until title is clear. Pamela is an underwriting agent with Attorneys' Title Fund and of counsel to a Florida title company, so the deed, the title work and the estate plan are reviewed by the same attorney.

She is a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar and appears in the 17th Judicial Circuit in Broward County and the 11th Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County. Meetings take place at the firm's office at 800 E Cypress Creek Rd, Suite 409, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33334, or by phone or video, and estate planning documents can be signed remotely through the firm's electronic estate planning package.
